Prom Checklist 2019

Even though you are in the midst of the semester with assignments and exams coming up, it is never too early to start thinking about prom. You will want to make sure you have the perfect night by not forgetting anything. Here is the ultimate prom checklist for 2019:

Inspiration

Start by looking on Pinterest or fashion magazines for style ideas. The theme of your prom might limit your choices a little bit, but spring is when designers come out with fresh designs, so you are sure to find something. Seeing what is out there and deciding what you do and do not like early on will make dress shopping easier.

The Dress

One of the most important things you will need for prom is, of course, your dress. Once you have looked at enough Pinterest pins and magazine spreads, you can finally get your outfit. Start shopping early so that you have plenty of time to find the perfect dress and do not get stuck with leftovers.

Shoes

After you get your dress, you will need to get a pair of shoes to suit them. If you go with a shorter dress, you should pick shoes that are sparkly and stand out since everyone will see them. If you have a floor-length gown, you could opt for more practical, simple shoes that are easier to walk in. But, it is your prom, so it would be understandable if you still wanted to get stand out shoes even if people do not see them.

Jewellery

Earrings, bracelets, and rings can take an outfit from great to amazing. Find pieces that compliment your dress and shoes. An easy way to do this is by finding jewellery that matches the jewels on your dress or choosing the same colours as your shoes.

Handbag

You will need a small handbag or clutch to carry your essentials with you like:

  • Money
  • Phone
  • Keys
  • Lip gloss
  • Mints
  • Compact mirror

A bag is a great way to accessorize your outfit creatively. Do not be afraid to go with a bright colour or crazy pattern since your bag will only sometimes be a part of your outfit. Or, you could be practical and go for neutral colours so that you can use your bag again for other formal occasions.

Bookings

There will be hundreds of girls booking hair and makeup appointments for the same day that you are. Make sure to have these booked well in advance so that you will get your first picks. To save time and hassle, you should get your hair and makeup done at the same place or have a team come to your home. Try to get your nails done a few days in advance since manicures and pedicures last for a few days anyway, and you will have one less thing to think about.

Flowers

You do not need a date to wear a corsage so, if you do not have one, go ahead and contact your local florist to order one. Fresh flowers bring a prom look together so well.

Pre and Post Plans

Depending on how big of a group you are going with, planning the logistics of your prom can be tricky. The larger your group, the earlier you and your friends should figure things out like transportation, dinner, and pictures. Figure out if you will be getting parents to drive or hiring a ride. If you plan on eating out together, book a reservation early. You should also decide whether you and your friends will be taking your own pictures or hiring a professional photographer.
